Child Oriented Mental Health Innovation Collaborative (COMIC)
COMIC stands for the Child Oriented Mental Health Innovation Collaborative.
Our team of highly skilled researchers develop research ideas in collaboration with children, young people and their families. We also work with community groups, clinical staff, academics and external partners with a vested interest in the improvement of the mental wellbeing of children and young people.
Our work aims to provide innovative mental health research in areas such as:
- Social and emotional wellbeing
- Neurodiversity (including autism and ADHD)
- Social prescribing, and
- The Deaf experience.
At COMIC we place children, young people and their families at the centre of everything we do to further develop support that is accessible, child-friendly and child-focused.
We advocate the use of child friendly support which incorporates health care in a fun and engaging way. Our research increases the evidence base for clinical decisions, decreases uncertainty, and can lead to improvements in care for children and young people.
