Dementia Action Week

This week is Dementia Action Week, aimed at encouraging people to take action to improve the lives of those affected by dementia, working to create a dementia-friendly UK where those with dementia do not feel excluded.

This week, we’re lifting the lid on some of the roles our staff play in the lives of people with dementia. You can read about a day in the life of a memory doctor, research assistant and occupational therapist. You can also read Jan Ellis’ story. After 20 years of marriage, she became a carer for her husband Pete following his dementia diagnosis.

If you’re out and about this week, our staff have organised a range of events across Leeds for service users, carers and family members. You can download the full list of events.

As well as our Memory Service, Young People with Dementia Service and Memory Support Worker Teams, the Trust also runs Older People’s Inpatient Services, for people with acute mental health needs including dementia.

Whether big or small, actions can make everyday life better for people affected by dementia. So, what will you do for Dementia Action Week?
