Qi Gong – 6 session course

Qi Gong, pronounced ‘chi gong’ was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine, and is similar to Tai Chi.  Qi Gong combines movement, meditation and controlled breathing to promote health and wellbeing, and is believed to balance the flow of energy, or ‘qi’ within the body.

Qi Gong exercises are often gentle and flowing, focusing on relaxation, flexibility and mindfulness.  The slow gentle movements are ideal for any age group and for people with limited mobility.

Qi Gong excercises are aimed at freeing the body of tension, controlled breathing, and relaxation.

What to expect:

This course runs over 6 weekly sessions, with each class lasting about one hour, with roughly 10minutes at the start for the class welcome, and some time at the end, for a seated mediation and a short check-in with one another.  We’ll have roughly 40 minutes for the Qi Gong movements.

Over the course you’ll begin to develop your Qi Gong practice.

Unlike a work-out in the gym, which typically emphasises physical strength and endurance – Qi Gong exercises are different.  They aim to free the body of tension, with the deliberately slow movements bringing a relaxed awareness to our bodies.  Aiming to promote a sense of calm, relaxation and mindfulness.

If you can, wear comfy, loose clothes. Most of the exercises are done standing if possible, but they can be adapted for those who may be more comfortable participating from a seated position.
