Staff perspectives on an adventure therapy psychosis intervention V1.1

The experience of participating in an adventure therapy sailing project for young people with a history of psychosis – Perspectives from staff in participating services

What is the study about?
This study will explore the perspectives of early intervention in psychosis service staff on the effects of participating in V2R-2023. The study seeks to understand staff perspectives on the process, effects, and longer-term consequences of participation, both for the clients and staff from each service who took part, and for each service as a whole. The aim is to provide a better understanding of the benefits and risks that arise for services participating in such projects, as well as any barriers that services might face.

Who can take part?
The participant will:

  • Be members of staff in early intervention in psychosis services that participated in the 2023 Voyage to Recovery project.
  • Be over the age of 18.
  • Have personally participated in the voyage by taking part in a week-long sailing journey alongside clients from their service.

What is involved?
Participants will be asked to take part in a one-to-one online interview with the researcher on ‘Teams’. If a telephone interview is preferable, this can be arranged instead. Interviews will last for up to two hours between September 2023 and March 2024. Prior to the interview participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire to provide basic information about service clients who participated in V2R-2023.

How can people get involved?
Staff will be invited to take part by the research team if they have been part of the project.
