Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative V1
What is the study about?
It is to explore how our genes and the environment influence the development of eating disorders in order to improve future treatment.
Who can take part?
Anyone who may have experienced an eating disorder in the past or who are currently experiencing any eating disorder, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge – eating disorder or any other eating disorder, 16 or over and live in England.
What is involved?
The study is conducted entirely online and it involves going unto the EDGI website to sign up for it. It involves signing a consent form, filling out an online questionnaire, and providing a saliva sample. We will also ask for access to your medical records(so we can find out some important clinical information), and if you are willing to be re-contacted for future research.
How can people get involved?
Go to https://edgiuk.org/ to register, and read the information sheet, provide consent, complete a ~30-minute questionnaire to see if you are eligible and send a saliva DNA sample through the post.
