Merran McRae

Role: Chair of the Trust

What I do

I am the Chair of the Trust Board.  This body is responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation.  In this role with the non-executive directors, we hold the Chief Executive and her executive team to account for the delivery of the organisation’s strategic aims and objectives.  I chair the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors.

How I contribute to improving the experience of service users and carers

By holding the executive directors to account, I am able to be assured that services are provided in the most effective and efficient way. I am passionate about person-centred services run by a workforce that is valued and well supported.

My Experience

I have over thirty years of experience in Local Government, leading services across housing, social care, culture and community development. I have been a statutory Director of Adult Social Care and Chief Executive at Calderdale and Wakefield Councils. I have a professional qualification in housing, an MBA and am also a qualified executive coach. I retired from my full time career in 2020 and now undertake short term consultancy and interim work in the public sector, as well as being on the Boards of several charities.
