Role: Non-executive Director
What I do
As a Non-executive Director, I hold the executive board to account for the delivery of the strategy, provide purposeful, constructive scrutiny and challenge as well as support by ensuring that the board sets challenging objectives for improving its performance across the range of its functions.
In conjunction with my fellow board members, I provide visible leadership in developing a healthy culture so that staff can be assured that Non-executive Directors provide a safe point of access to the board for raising concerns.
How I contribute to improving the experience of service users and carers
My role on the board is to assure that we deliver both our vision and values to provide outstanding mental health and learning disability services by way of supporting our service users and carers, our staff and the communities we serve.
I am a member of both the Finance and Performance and the Audit committees that support accountability, governance and being accountable individually and collectively for the effectiveness of the board.
I believe that my experiences and passion will support the Trust, valuing diversity in our workforce and demonstrating equality of opportunity in our treatment of staff, whilst ensuring that service users are always treated with dignity and respect.
I bring nearly 30 years of delivery experience from several industries, with a primary expertise in technology. I currently hold a substantial role as a Senior Director for a technology organisation, operating as domain expert for products and services to meet the digital transformational needs in Health and Care.
Prior to this I worked for NHS Digital where I led, as Programme Director, a number of National Programmes including NHS Choices (www.nhs.uk) and NHSmail in addition to leading NHS Digital’s horizon scanning on market innovation nationally and internationally.
I am also a Trustee for the Leeds Community Foundation, a grant-making charitable foundation which supports thousands of charities and voluntary groups across the city, addressing inequalities and working together to help create opportunities for those that most need help.
