We work with people who have developed ways of coping and surviving that can cause them harm and distress. This is often the result of complex trauma and adverse life experiences.

We provide a range of support and therapeutic interventions for people aged over 25, mostly in groups led by experienced practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds.

You must be registered with a Leeds GP to access our services.

How to get support

If you are over 25 years old and looking for support for your experience of complex emotional needs, speaking to your GP or a health or support worker is a good first step.

In the first instance your GP may refer you to a primary care mental health practitioner, who can assess your needs, consider support options, and offer guidance.

Therapeutic groups

You could also consider referring yourself to one of EMERGE Leeds’ groups. To access our groups you need to be aged 18 years or above and registered with a Leeds GP.

  • EMEREGE Leeds Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed Skills Groups.
  • EMERGE Leeds Journey.

Visit the therapeutic groups page to learn more and find out how to access them.

If these options aren’t right for you, there are a wide range of organisations in Leeds offering a variety of different types of support and approaches. A good source of information is Mindwell Leeds.

EMERGE Leeds: Care Coordination

If you are over 25 years and there is a risk of you experiencing a long-term hospital admission, or you have already been in hospital for a long time:

  • a community mental health team or similar service may consider making a referral to EMERGE Leeds for our care coordination pathway.
  • a care coordinator (or keyworker) can help create a care plan that outlines the support available to you and build a safety plan for when you need support to keep yourself safe in the community, if you have complex emotional needs or a diagnosis of personality disorder.

Visit the information for healthcare professionals page to learn more about the referral process.
