Rough Sleepers Mental Health Service (RSMHS)

Introducing the service

The Rough Sleepers Mental Health Service is a specialist community mental health service for people aged 18 and over, living in Leeds.

The team supports people currently, or at most risk of, experiencing rough sleeping, who are unable to access statutory (mental) health services through difficulties establishing and sustaining “engagement”.

Some of those we work with may have been previously known, or referred to, statutory mental health services like community mental health services, primary care mental health, the Crisis Resolution Intensive Support Service, and/ or the Acute Liaison Psychiatry Service, or may have no prior contact with statutory mental health services in Leeds. Due to their multiple needs associated with homelessness and rough sleeping, they may experience difficulties engaging with services, meaning their mental health needs are currently unmet.
