Eating Disorders Service (Adult)

CONNECT provides community and inpatient treatment for people living in West Yorkshire, aged 18 and over, with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Our team of professionals’ will tailor your treatment to support you on your road to recovery.

Referral process

We can only accept referrals from healthcare professionals, including your GP.

What to expect

Once you have been referred to CONNECT you will have an initial meeting with one of our friendly doctors. This is an in-depth conversation to get to know you, how we can best support you, and the steps we need to take to aid your recovery.

After the initial meeting, our team will come together to discuss and agree on your suggested treatment plan.

Throughout your treatment, you’ll be supported by a team of experts. This can include doctors, psychologists, therapists, nurses, dietitians, occupational therapists, health support workers, peer support workers, consultant psychiatrists and psychologists.

Most individuals will be offered one of our therapy groups, alongside a dietetic assessment and input from other members of the team. The groups that we offer include:

  • MANTRA (The Maudsley Model of Treatment for Adults with Anorexia)
  • CBT-ED (Eating disorder focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Other psychological therapies may be considered based on an individual’s needs.

We also have an inpatient unit based at the Newsam Centre in Leeds. The inpatient unit works closely with the community staff, as well as other community teams outside of West Yorkshire, to keep hospital stays to a minimum and make sure that the necessary care and support is in place in the community after discharge from the inpatient unit.
