18-25 Deaf Mental Health Assessment Service

PLEASE NOTE, WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING REFERRALS FOR THIS SERVICE.

The National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health (North) Service is running a Deaf Mental Health Assessment service for deaf adults aged 18-25.

This service provides an assessment/diagnostic service, with short term intervention sessions where appropriate.

Please note, this is a pilot service running from September 2024. The pilot service will cease taking referrals on 31 December 2025 or sooner should we reach our quota of referrals.

[00:00] Hello! We are really excited to let you know that in the Yorkshire and Humber regions we have set up a new service.
[00:10] This is for 18 to 25-year-old deaf young adults — a mental health assessment service.
[00:20] If you are deaf, aged 18 to 25, and have thought you might be autistic or possibly have ADHD, or realised you have difficulties with your emotions, or have language or processing difficulties, and want an assessment then contact us for more information.

Who we help

  • Young adults aged 18 – 25 in the Yorkshire and Humber area.
  • Individuals with severe or profound hearing level, or those who use British Sign Language as their first or preferred language.

Concerns addressed

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Significant problems with language and communication.
  • Concerns regarding emotional and behavioural management.
  • Significant impact on daily life including employment, housing, education, and relationships.
