In memory of Steven Spencer: 1958-2020

We are very sad to announce the sudden death of Steven Spencer, a staff nurse at the Rehab and Recovery (R&R) Service based at Asket Croft.

Steven SpencerThe cause of his death is not yet known, but with the permission of the family we will share this with colleagues when we receive any information. We will be paying tribute to Steven over the coming days and we will make sure that everyone who has worked with him has an opportunity to participate in remembrance of him.

Steve worked for the Trust since 1999 and in our R&R Services for many years, spanning Peel Court, Towngate House and Asket Croft. He will be remembered for his wit and dry sense of humour.

We have gathered some memories and thoughts from staff and service users to share with the family and these will be included in our arrangements to remember Steven. Some of these include:

“Steve never failed to make me smile and laugh. He had a great sense of humour and a kind soul. I will miss him.” (From a colleague)

“Fly high with the Angels Steve, you will make them smile.” (From a colleague)

“So sorry to hear that poor Steve has passed away. You will all miss such a lovely caring man. We will all miss him dearly.” (From a former service user)

Following a recent memorial service led by our Chaplain Michael MkPadi Steven’s family said:

“I would just like to thank you and all his friends for setting up and arranging  Steve’s service.

I know Steve would have been amazed and proud by the way his friends, workmates and patients responded to his passing, but l’m not. Steve was a great, great brother and friend, l only wish l had spent more time with him.

Many, many thanks Matt, mum and family.”

Rest in peace Steve.
