Understanding the Experiences of Social Relationships for People with Unusual Beliefs
Study looking at how people experience unusual or distressing beliefs.
What is this study about?
This study is focused on understanding unusual or distressing beliefs — particularly those that are not commonly held by most people and may cause emotional discomfort or disruption in daily life.
The study aims to explore the nature and impact of unusual/distressing beliefs and gain insight into how individuals experience and interpret these beliefs. These findings can help inform clinical practice.
What is involved?
The participant will be asked to take part in an interview (approximately one hour) the interview can take place online or face-to-face. This interview will be audio recorded.
Who can take part?
The participant will be:
- Able to give informed consent to participation.
- Over 18 years of age.
- Diagnosis of psychosis or delusional disorder(s), or eligibility for a psychosis service, or experience of a distressing belief that is not widely held by others around them.
- Fluent in English.
How can people get involved?
Eligible participants will be invited to take part in the study.
