Exploring Experiences of Individuals Living Alone Whilst Waiting for a Potential Diagnosis of Dementia

A memory services study looking at living alone whilst waiting for a potential diagnosis of dementia.

What is this study about?
The aim of this study is to understand more about the experiences of people who live alone and are awaiting a memory assessment.

Who can take part?
Service users who are referred to the memory clinic and are awaiting an assessment of dementia who live alone will be participants in this study.

What is involved?
Service users will be asked to participate in an interview lasting roughly an hour. The interview will take place once the service user has had at least one appointment with the memory clinic. The interview will include questions around what prompted the visit to the memory clinic and the service user’s feelings regarding the assessment process.

How can people get involved?
The study will be introduced to service users during clinical appointments and will be asked if they consent to their details being shared with the researcher who will then contact them to discuss further.
