Emergency Care After Self-Harm (EmCASH)
Study interviewing young people and/or their caregivers to understand their experiences of emergency care after self-harm.
What is the study about?
This study aims to understand what helps young people in an emergency after self-harm, why, and in what situations.
What is involved?
Participants will be asked to take part in an interview (approximately 30-90 minutes) online or in person. Audio recordings will be taken and written up following the interview. Participants will receive a £20 shopping voucher to say thank you. All information is confidential and anonymised.
Who can take part?
Participants must be:
Young people:
- Aged 12-25 years (inclusive)
- Recent (<12 months) experience of self-harm, as defined by NICE guidelines
- Able to communicate fluently in any language
- Able to give informed consent to participate and willing to participate in an interview
Caregivers:
- Adult (aged 18 years or over, likely to be 30 years or over)
- Primary caregiver for somebody who meets the inclusion criteria for young people
