CognoSpeak
A study to assess whether a virtual doctor can identify memory problems.
What is the study about?
The CognoSpeak study is testing whether a computerised “virtual doctor” can measure memory, mood, and thinking ability by analysing speech during conversations. The aim of this study is to develop a new computer program that could be used in the future to help identify memory problems earlier, prioritise referrals to memory clinics, and make dementia-related services more efficient.
What is involved?
Taking part in the CognoSpeak study will involve two research ‘appointments’: the first appointment (also known as baseline) and a follow up 6 months later. Participants do not need to complete the second appointment, but it would be useful to measure if there are natural changes to speech patterns over time. These appointments can take place either at home or on a Trust site. Each appointment will take about one hour.
Who can take part?
The participant will be:
- People aged over 18 years old with the capacity to consent.
- Patients with cognitive symptoms attending memory clinic.
- Healthy volunteers.
