Research Hero of the Month – October 2024

Embedding Research in Clinical Practice

We are proud of all our trust staff who are working towards the objective of embedding research into clinical practice. Whether this be through supporting students to develop research skills through our Mental Health Student Hybrid Placement (MESH) programme; supporting staff to take on Research Champion roles; or helping us to embed research in professions usually under-represented (i.e. Nursing and AHP professions).

There is one team that has consistently provided support to not only implement such initiatives, but also contributing to their development.

We would like to acknowledge the Practice Learning and Development team (PLDT).

The team have enabled us to efficiently overcome logistical challenges to embedding research in practice. Adam is also a member of our Mental Health Nurses Research Pathways working group and contributes to the activities required to meet this group’s objective.

Adam Maher (PLDT Team Manager)

“One of the functions of our team is to evaluate the capacity for all learners to be supported within the Trust (including learners, associates, preceptees and apprentices) to fulfil their role and achieve their potential. We really value collaborating with colleagues in the research team either by supporting learners on placement or by supporting the MESH program.”

PLDT also support us to promote that research is for everyone and it isn’t the laborious academic task which may come to mind when the word ‘Research’ is mentioned.

So, thank you PLDT, for your pro-active thinking, your consistent support, and for your advice and guidance in our embedding research objective. True Research Heroes.
