Research Hero of the Month – January 2025
This month we would like to recognise the Programme Management Office (PMO), as research heroes, for their significant contribution to building research capacity and capability in the Trust.
The delivery of research is truly a Trust wide endeavour! There are many behind the scenes activities which enable clinically relevant research to be on offer to those accessing our services.
The research portfolio is intentionally varied. We have experienced a rise in the need for blood samples and other physical measurements as outcome measures. As such, the department have an identified need for clinical space to enable the safe, confidential and comfortable taking of blood samples and taking physical measurements. This can be a component of studies exploring genetic markers, such as UKMinds or as an outcome measure like in Diamonds.

Kippax Health Centre – Clinical research space
With no dedicated space to call upon the project team recognised our challenge for space and future needs with commercial trials pending. We are really grateful for the forward thinking and flexibility that the PMO team has shown, and the understanding of the need for health research to take place in the Trust. They listened to our requirements, explored options, collaborated on the detail which has resulted in a fabulous clinical research hub in Kippax Health Centre. This space now houses lab equipment for blood processing, an essential component to such studies. We are grateful to the PMO team in their contribution to this this development.
Donna Batley and Tom Greener, PMO, said:
“We are really pleased to have been part of the discussions and consultation process for finding a suitable clinic space for the R&D team to expand their work into. It is lovely to receive this nomination and we thank the R&D team for this and their kind words. We wish them every success in their future working from Kippax.”
