An evaluation of Care (Education) and treatment reviews for people with learning disabilities and autistic people (CECILIA)
What is this study about?
This study is looking at how helpful Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews (C(E)TRs) are for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. These reviews were created to reduce hospital admissions and support people to leave hospital. In the first stage of the project, researchers will use surveys and interviews to understand how C(E)TRs are experienced by individuals, families, and professionals. The goal is to improve how C(E)TRs are done and make sure people are included and supported throughout the process.
Who can take part?
People with learning disabilities or autistic people who:
- Have taken part in a Care (Education) and Treatment Review (C(E)TR) within the last 12 months
- Are aged 5 years or older
- Family members or carers of people with learning disabilities or autistic people who meet the same criteria.
Staff:
- Be a C(E)TR panel member (Chair, Clinical Member, or Expert by Experience), or a health/social care professional (e.g. commissioner, social worker, advocate, care staff, clinician).
- Have participated in a C(E)TR within the last 12 months,
What is involved?
- Online survey via Qualtrics (approx. 20–30 minutes).
- Structured interview using Talking Mats® and other communication supports for those with moderate to severe learning disabilities or communication needs.
