Measuring what matters to young people in inpatient mental health services
The development of a new questionnaire
What is this study about?
This study aims to develop a new questionnaire to evaluate the quality of UK inpatient children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).
Who can take part?
The following people can take part:
- Are currently in a UK inpatient CAMHS or have been discharged from inpatient CAMHS within the last 2 months.
- Are currently 16 years old or older.
- Did not attend any of the meetings in which young people helped to develop the new questionnaire.
What is involved?
The study will all take place online using a phone, tablet or laptop. It will involve:
- Completing a consent form
- Providing information about age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, learning needs, neurodiversity, the length of admission to hospital, how long ago it was (if you have been discharged), and how many admissions you’ve had.
- Completing two questionnaires about your experiences of inpatient CAMHS (order might vary): the new one and the Experience of Service Questionnaire (ESQ).
- Answer questions about how you found completing the questionnaires.
- You will be asked to answer all of the questions online, using a phone, tablet or laptop.
- Completing all the questionnaires will take approximately 25-30 minutes.
How can people get involved?
A link or QR code for the study can be found in the study poster which will be displayed in CAMHS units.
