Who we are

The Leeds and West Yorkshire Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) Service is a specialist NHS service for adults living with ME/CFS. We provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for people aged 17 and over, helping them manage their condition and work towards their goals.

We understand that ME/CFS can affect many areas of life, including daily activities, work, education, and relationships. Our individualised treatment plans and range of therapeutic options are designed to help people make sense of their condition, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall well-being.

What we do

The aims of our service are to:

• Improve your quality of life – many patients tell us we help them “get their lives back.”
• Support your journey towards recovery – helping you set achievable goals and track progress.
• Assist you in continuing education or work, if this is important to you.
• Help you understand your condition – providing clear information and practical strategies for managing symptoms.
• Involve and support your carers, family, and friends – recognising the impact ME/CFS has on your wider support network.

We are committed to providing compassionate, expert support to help you manage your condition, achieve your goals, and improve your quality of life.

Our team

Our service is delivered by a multidisciplinary team, including specialists in medicine, therapy, and mental health, who work collaboratively to provide holistic care tailored to your needs. This includes:

• Doctors
• Occupational therapists
• Nurse
• Clinical lead occupational therapist
• Dietician
• Physiotherapist

We are supported by a team of administrative staff. We also value the input and involvement of former patients and carers, who make a unique contribution, as volunteers, to developing our service.
