Meet our own apprentices in National Apprenticeship Week

Featuring four of the determined people who are progressing their careers with an apprenticeship.

Michael MurdochWe’re showcasing here just four of the 80 impressive people who are the Trust’s apprentices as we make a major contribution to National Apprenticeship Week which starts today.

The aim of National Apprenticeship Week week is to encourage people to take up the wide range of opportunities – fully funded – to progress their careers. It takes grit and determination and time. But it’s well worth it, as you’ll hear from their blogs tomorrow, and Wednesday and Thursday.

Michael (pictured) is now on his third apprenticeship and his second degree, and has survived brain surgery along the way. You’ll see a lot of Michael this week as he is also the face of a major campaign running across Yorkshire and the North East. Michael says he very close to his dream, thanks to his apprenticeship.

Read Michael’s blog tomorrow and his very practical point about apprenticeships: “You are fully funded, therefore no student debt and you get paid!”

Alice’s ‘proudest moment’ was being employed by the workplace where she undertook her apprenticeship. She says the opportunity has taught her what she wanted to do in life and made her who she is today. Alice’s blog features on our website on Wednesday.

Lisa, a senior support well-being advisor and mental health first aider, writes honestly about the learning barriers she had to overcome during Covid and the possibilities opening up – read her blog on Thursday.

And last but certainly not least, you can hear from our Apprenticeship Officer herself, Michelle Woods, who decided to see for herself exactly what people have to go through. And what is it like, Michelle? It’s hard, but worth it! Read her insightful blog on Friday.
