Go for it, says apprentice Lisa, what's to lose?

There's plenty of support, it's worth going for

Lisa, a senior support well-being advisor and mental health first aider, writes about the barriers she had to overcome to become an apprentice and the possibilities opening up in her blog today.

Lisa chose the Lead care worker at L3  apprenticeship specifically to help her career growth, feeling it was the best way to take an apprenticeship while already working as a Lead support worker.

“I did find it difficult to work on the software as I learn from practice. I have recently been able to understand the software a little better and this has lessened my anxiety and helped me produce more work.

“The pandemic has also been really challenging as I’m a face-to-face learner. Working under the worry and pressure of Covid has most definitely proven difficult and outside my comfort zone for learning.

She’s optimistic though about the future. “Hopefully more roles outside my job at the minute will become more accessible and I will feel more qualified to apply.”

And her advice be to anyone thinking about doing an apprenticeship?

“I would say go for it and not put it off. I was offered the opportunity four years ago and declined.

“This has been a regret as I’m finding it hard under the current situation and would have possibly been doing my Level 5 at this point.

“Give it a go. Support is available from tutors, so what’s to lose?”
