Referrals Live Highly Commended at National Positive Practice Awards

We’re proud to share that Referrals Live, an innovative initiative developed by our Pathway Development Service (PDS), was Highly Commended at the recent Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards.

With over 500 nominations across 20 categories, being shortlisted alone was a significant achievement, receiving a commendation is a testament to the impact and innovation of the project.
Referrals Live reimagines the traditional referral process by replacing paper-based systems with real-time, video-based consultations. This approach fosters meaningful collaboration between services, enabling quicker decision-making and more trauma-informed, person-centred pathways of support.

Instead of relying on lengthy forms and back-and-forth emails, referring teams now complete a brief referral form and are invited to a virtual session. These sessions allow for open discussion of concerns, dilemmas, and support needs, ensuring clarity, reducing delays, and improving outcomes for service users.

“We’re thrilled that Referrals Live has been recognised at a national level,” said Laura, Principal Clinical Psychologist. “This initiative was born out of a desire to move away from transactional referrals and towards a more relational, collaborative approach. Being Highly Commended is a real honour and reflects the dedication of the whole team to improving the experience for both professionals and service users.”

We’re incredibly proud of the team behind Referrals Live and grateful for the recognition of their work. This commendation highlights our ongoing commitment to innovation and collaboration in mental health services.
