Our OT’s shine on the small screen

A new national TV ad has launched, featuring two of our brilliant Occupational Therapists.

This week, a new national TV ad has launched, featuring two of our brilliant Occupational Therapists – Hayley Davis Moore and Kate Ward.

Hayley and Kate feature in the new phase of the “We are the NHS” campaign, which focuses on Allied Health Professionals. The ad was filmed in and around NHS locations in Leeds and features staff working across all Leeds NHS Trusts.

It is the first Government campaign to highlight vital allied health professionals, as well as nurses, who have been identified as priorities for the NHS to recruit in order to build the workforce of the future. The recruitment drive is targeted at students and ‘career switchers’ and the accompanying TV ad features a whole host of roles, from occupational therapists and radiographers to paramedics and podiatrists.

Hayley said: “I’m proud to be part of a campaign that shines a light on the important roles allied health professionals play in the NHS. As a mental health occupational therapist, I help people to lead lives that are as fulfilling as possible, by supporting them to carry out day to day activities. It’s exciting and varied, no two days are the same. I hope this campaign encourages others to consider occupational therapy as a career.”

Kate said: “It’s been a privilege to take part in a campaign which promotes the breadth and variety of roles across Allied Health Professionals and the unique contribution that each AHP brings to the delivery of care within the NHS. As occupational therapists, we are trained to work across both physical and mental health settings which provides opportunities to work within so many different services in health and social care. But what is so wonderful is that, wherever we work, we have the skills and knowledge to promote better health and wellbeing in the most person-centred way. Being an AHP has also given me opportunities for further professional development and career progression in the NHS from being a clinician in frontline mental health services to taking on management and leadership roles”
