Now get electric bikes with the Cycle to Work scheme

There are many benefits of the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust cycle to work scheme, not just for your health and wellbeing, and the environment, but also for your pocket. Now is a great time to join the scheme. The purchase limit has just increased to £10.000, so you can choose high spec bikes for those keen cyclists and electric bikes for those wanting some extra power.

In 2017 the Government set out their ambition to make cycling and walking the natural choices for shorter journeys or as part of a longer journey. The Trusts supports this scheme for staff, and as an employee, you can buy a bike and accessories tax-free to use for your commute. This new boost to the purchase limit, we hope, will attract new cyclists and is as inclusive as possible so that people travelling to work can enjoy the benefits this scheme affords.

Why Cycle to Work

  • Health improvements
  • Cheaper travel
  • Increased productivity
  • Reducing carbon footprint
  • Reducing congestion
  • Improving air quality
  • Save the NHS up to £1 billion per annum

Choosing a bike

With the Cycle to Work scheme, you can purchase bikes and accessories from leading cycling brands; you can also buy electric bikes, and high-end bicycles, with the newly increased scheme limit of £10,000. You can purchase online from national retailers and from local shops through Vivup.

How to claim

Register an account with Vivup, select the LYPFT Trust and choose Cycle to Work in the PayrollPay column and select how to choose your bike. Halfords, Evans and Cycle Solutions provide bikes and accessories, and you can also search for local shops which are part of the scheme if you don’t want to order online and get a quote. You can then loan your bike and accessories from the Trust for an agreed length of time in exchange for a set amount of your salary each month during the loan period. After the loan period, you own the bike.

CLAIM

Salary reductions are made to your gross salary, so you can make savings on Income Tax, National Insurance and NHS Pension Scheme contributions, where applicable.

* Savings are realised through a salary sacrifice arrangement. Figures are a guide only and dependent on personal situation

Red Kite View

When building Red Kite View, we ensured we provided provision for employees who cycled to work with suitable staff facilities. There is secure storage for bikes, lockers and showers and changing rooms. Part of our Green Strategy is to improve facilities across all Trust facilities. Looking at convenient and safe bike storage, accessible and suitable changing facilities and showers and providing information about locations available at Trust facilities. We want to encourage and assist staff as much as possible to join the cycle to work scheme.
