Dr Julie Hankin appointed as new Deputy Medical Director
We’re delighted to announce that Dr Julie Hankin has been appointed and has now started in her new role as Deputy Medical Director for Clinical Leadership, Research and Improvement at the Trust.
Julie (pictured) has been a consultant in general adult psychiatry for 23 years. She moved to Leeds to take up a role as Consultant Psychiatrist within the Community Rehabilitation Enhanced Support Team three years ago.
She’s previously held the roles of National Professional Advisor for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities at the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and medical director at NHS trusts in Nottingham and Cambridge.
Julie’s appointment is the final piece in a long-standing restructure within the Trust’s medical directorate. Alongside her new LYPFT role, Julie will be returning to the CQC a role as National Professional Advisor in their mental health team one day a week.
“I’m excited to be moving back into senior leadership and hope to be able to bring skills from my previous experience,” said Julie. “My particular focus for the first year will be reviewing our clinical leadership, research and improvement structures to ensure that we are able to deliver our strategic plans as effectively as possible.
“When not working I am usually found in my pottery shed trying to persuade clay that it wants to make a recognisable shape.”
Our Medical Director Dr Chris Hosker added: “Congratulations to Julie on this appointment. I am really looking forward to working alongside her. We are very fortunate to be able to benefit from all the skills and experience she has already accrued during her career.”
