20 days of awesome

Celebrating innovative practice in mental health and learning disability services across the Trust

This summer we’re being inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). As part of that inspection the CQC has asked us to highlight our innovative practice and any awards we have won.

We didn’t want to keep this to ourselves, so over the coming weeks we’ll be running a #20daysofawesome campaign to share some of the great stories on our social media pages about what’s been achieved in the past year by our fab people and services.

We’ve selected some of the key stories here to give you a flavour.

  • following a huge three year project we’ve launched new service models for community mental health and crisis services for working age and older adults
  • in 2018 we launched our Veterans’ Mental Health Complex Treatment Service which helps former forces personnel who have been affected by trauma
  • CONNECT is an award-winning service which was launched in April 2018 providing early intervention, outpatient, inpatient and intensive home-based treatment for adults with eating disorders
  • the Trust is leading on the development of a mental health and wellbeing Recovery College which aims to deliver education and training courses which focus on living well

There are many examples of innovative practices across the whole of our mental health and learning disability services all of which have made a difference to the way we work, improving care for our service users – so it’s a great opportunity to shout about what we do.

  • our Gender Outreach Worker supports people in the trans community who are on the Gender ID Service waiting list
  • a new activity programme for service users with psychological challenges associated with dementia
  • the Health Facilitation Team have produced an easy-read ‘Get Checked Out’ guide to encourage people with learning disabilities to have annual health checks

We’re asking our staff and healthcare networks to help us share our #20daysofawesome by liking and sharing on Twitter so we can spread the good news far and wide. Please join in!
