Richard Hattersley

Constituency: Public: Leeds
elected to the Council of Governors & Our Governors

Hello my name is Richard and this is a short introduction as to why I feel I can contribute to the role of governor within the Trust. I grew up in Leeds and have enjoyed living in the city most of my life. Good Mental Health is so important to us all; I have close family experience of why sometimes we need help to achieve this. I have worked in the Local Authority as a social Worker later managing within Community Mental Health services in Leeds for some years, before moving to set up Safeguarding Adult pathways and support within the LTHT.

I have led a number of projects within the city, most recently a project supporting children and young people; victims of knife crime who attend A&E following injury and crisis.

My representation on the Leeds Safeguarding Adult Board has given me an insight and understanding of the lives of those exploited and excluded from society in Leeds. My experience, professional and personal, has enabled me to recognise what ‘good’ looks like for those needing care and treatment.

I hope I can bring my knowledge of multi-agency working in the city to the role, providing a challenge for us all to work together to achieve our aims, seeking clear evidence of how the Trust’s plans work for those in the city needing our support.
