Katy Mallender-Ward
Constituency: Public: Leeds
elected to the Council of Governors & Our Governors
Hello, my name is Katy. I have worked in the NHS for over 22 years, I am passionate about improving patient care, particularly in relation to patient safety.
I moved to Leeds in 2000 to train as a radiographer and have since worked in a range of roles, including a year as a Clinical Leadership Fellow. I now work as an Improvement Specialist, supporting services to deliver safer, high-quality care. Through these experiences, I have developed a strong understanding of how different parts of the NHS need to work together to provide effective, joined up care.
Alongside my professional experience, I have a lived appreciation of the challenges people can face when accessing services, including around waiting times and the impact this can have on individuals and families. This has reinforced for me the importance of timely, compassionate and person-centred care, which is central to the work of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
As a governor, I would like to use both my experience and perspective to support continuous improvement and help ensure services meet the needs of those accessing services.
