Caring for your spiritual, pastoral and religious needs

During the high spots and low spots of our lives, at birth, death, or bereavement, when relationship issues emerge and during periods of illness, we commonly find ourselves searching for meaning and understanding. How do we begin to process these very real emotions and feelings? Whether or not we identify as religious, we all carry hopes, aspirations, fears and values.

When ill or stressed, it is not unusual for people to feel vulnerable or frightened. At such times we may find ourselves pondering deeply, even questioning the meaning of life.

Talking things over in your own way

You may find it helpful to talk things through with a chaplain as a way of making sense of your experience. Our Chaplaincy, Spiritual and Pastoral Care Team will never pretend to hold the answers, but they are committed to walking with you, listening and reflecting with you as you try to make sense of things.

All members of the chaplaincy team are trained to listen. As with every other member of staff, chaplains have no agenda other than to provide you with unbiased high-quality care and support. No matter a person’s creed, colour, sexual orientation, politics or personal history, all are welcome to access Chaplaincy. The starting point is always the same: the person in front of us.

Faith and peace rooms at our Trust

We have multi-faith rooms at The Mount and The Becklin Centre. In addition, we have Peace Rooms at The Newsam Centre, Asket House, Red Kite View and Clifton House. These are places of peace and quiet and are open for prayer and personal reflection.

Our Chaplaincy Team provide non-judgmental, sensitive and confidential support and upon request, can provide links with appropriate community faith groups.
