Katy Wilburn
Role: Non-executive Director and Chair of the Finance and Performance Committee
What I do
My role on the Board is to hold the Chief Executive and her Executive Team to account for the delivery of the organisation’s strategic aims and objectives. I am the chair of the Finance and Performance Committee, a member of the Mental Health Legislation Committee and a member of the Quality Committee. I am also the Non-executive Director Champion for Sustainability.
How I contribute to improving the experience of service users and carers
By holding the executive directors to account I am able to be assured that services are provided in the most safe, timely, equitable, efficient, effective and patient-centred way. I am also able to be assured that clinical quality controls, and systems of risk management and governance, are robust and implemented.
As Chair of the Finance and Performance Committee, I help ensure we use the money we receive in the best way we can to benefit our service users and their carers, and that we take opportunities to build a sustainable organisation able to continue to provide high quality services.
My experience
For the past 15 years, I have worked in the social housing sector, specialising in performance monitoring, service improvement and delivery redesign. I am currently a Principal Governance and Regulation Consultant at a company called Altair, who specialise in supporting housing providers to meet legal and regulatory standards. Previously, I was the Head of Transformation for First Choice Homes in Oldham. I am also a Non-executive Director for a social housing provider based in the North-East, Thirteen Group, where I chair the Customer Committee, ensuring the customer voice is central to the Group’s strategic decision making.
My personal motive for joining the Board is my teenage son, Sam, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Alongside my professional expertise, as a family we also have 13 years of lived experience of a number of services similar to those delivered by the Trust.
