Sharon Nightingale joined the Trust in 2002 and continues to work as a full time Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry.
She is currently based in the East North East of the city at St Mary’s House. She works as part of the following locality based teams:
- Community Mental Health Team providing care, treatment and support to older people with mental health, dementia and complex frailty presentations. (link to clinical service)
- Memory Assessment Services providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment for people with memory problems. (link to clinical service)
- Intensive Home Treatment Teams for Older People providing care, treatment and support to older people with more acute or intensive mental health, dementia and complex frailty presentations. (link to clinical service)
Sharon Nightingale is the Director of Medical Education for the Trust. This is a joint Trust and Health Education England appointment. She works in close collaboration with Leeds Medical School, Yorkshire Foundation School and Yorkshire Postgraduate Deanery. (link to medical education website)
She is a member of the Special Advisory Committee (Royal College of Psychiatrists- RCPsych)
She has an extensive local, regional and national teaching portfolio in Old Age Psychiatry and Medical Education on behalf of the Trust, HEE and RCPsych.
