Dr Isaac works as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Deaf Children, Young People and Family Service (National Deaf CAMHS, York team). She is also a Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disabilities and Hon Clinical Lead in Sleep Disorder Pathway for North of England National Deaf CAMHS Services.

As a specialist regional service, the Deaf CAMHS service caters to all of Yorkshire, supporting the mental health needs for deaf children by working closely with young people, their family and with a wide range of NHS, social care, and charitable organisations. The service is multilingual, multicultural with deaf and hearing staff working in collaboration to offer comprehensive assessments, management plans and follow up for mental illness, behavioural difficulties, sleep disturbances and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Dr Isaac is of South Asian heritage. Following her undergraduate training in India, she started her career in psychiatry in 2003 at the prestigious Maudsley Hospital in London. She completed her core psychiatry training from University College London rotation, London Deanery and went on to do higher specialist training in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability for adults and in children from Southwest London and St George’s Rotation, London deanery. Dr Isaac has held consultant positions in community as well as inpatients for people with intellectual disabilities.

Dr Isaac was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2023, one of the highest honours in the field granted to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy, and scholarship to advancing mental health.

Dr Isaac is a bereaved sibling having lost one of her brothers to cancer and is someone with lived experienced of neurodiversity. Her deep understanding of the subject and her personal experiences have inspired her to hold a specialist interest in Autism especially in females, trauma and in behavioural sleep disorders.

Dr Isaac is also a published poet and has written on a wide subject area including grief, Autism, trauma, compassion and healing.

Monday 8.30am-12.30pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 8.30am – 4.30pm, term-time only
