Jane qualified in Manchester in 1991. Following this she trained in psychiatry in Yorkshire. She worked as a consultant in a CMHT in North West Leeds from March 2001 until 2013 specialising in student mental health. After a career break she joined the Early Intervention in Psychosis team in November 2015 and has worked there since as a part time consultant. She has a special interest in working with people on the autistic spectrum.

She also works as a medical member in the social entitlement chamber of the Tribunal Service where she has a particular interest in the link between mental health and the welfare system
