Dr Richardson qualified from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2011, and began psychiatry training in 2013, going on to specialise in the Psychiatry of Learning Disabilities.

Dr Richardson completed his training in 2019 and took up his first consultant post with Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in November 2019. He currently works in the Community Learning Disability team as the South Leeds Consultant, where he provides care and treatment for People with Learning Disabilities who have a variety of mental health difficulties as well as supporting colleagues to care for those with challenging behaviours.

As well as his clinical role, Dr Richardson is the Director of Postgraduate Medical Education – Ops Lead and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
