Dr Protheroe has been working as a consultant in Liaison Psychiatry in Leeds since 2000.

David works in the clinical team delivering psychological care to inpatients in the general hospital. He also treats outpatients with a range of mixed physical and psychological problems.

David has a particular clinical interest in medically unexplained symptoms such as functional neurological disorder.

He is an Accredited Practitioner in EMDR and uses EMDR successfully to treat medically unexplained symptoms and a range of other disorders.

David has also been involved in a range of research projects in general hospitals over the last twenty five years.
