Influences On Prescribing In Borderline Personality Disorder

Influences On Prescribing Decisions For The Pharmacological Management Of Borderline Personality Disorder: AQualitative Interview Study

What is this study about?
There is currently little research on why medications are prescribed in Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The study team hope to gather evidence from everyone in the prescribing process, particularly patients to give a better understanding of prescribing in this condition. Understanding people’s experiences will provide evidence to support more effective services in the future.

Who can take part?
Participants will be:

1) Doctors, non-medical prescribers and pharmacists who have cared for someone with BPD and been involved in the prescribing of medication for BPD in the last year.

2) Patients aged 18 years and older with BPD who have been prescribed medication for BPD

3) Individuals who have, in a unpaid capacity, provided support for someone with BPD who has been prescribed medication for BPD in the last year.

What is involved?
Participants will be asked to take part in an interview. This can be carried out either face-to-face, through video-conferencing using MS Teams, or on the telephone. Participants interviewed will be offered a £30 gift voucher.
