Function REplacement in repeated Self-Harm: Standardising Therapeutic Assessment and the Related Therapy (WP4 - Randomised Controlled Trial)
What is the study about?
The FreshSTART trial aims to develop and evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a modified approach to psychological therapy for people who repeatedly self-harm.
Who can take part?
People over the age of 18 who present at A&E as a consequence of self-harm. Must be at least their third episode of self-harm in the last 12months, and fourth or more lifetime episode.
What is involved?
Participants will be randomised to standard care plus intervention or standard care alone. The intervention is 12 sessions of adapted therapy over a maximum of 6 months. All participants will be followed up for 12 months.
How can people get involved?
During their mental health assessment in A&E, individuals will be asked if they would like to be contacted by a researcher to find out more about the study. Participants cannot self-refer.
