Analysing psychosis drug prescriptions for psychiatric inpatients

Study looking at data to analyse how medications are prescribed for psychosis.

what is this study about?
This study aims to explore whether medications for psychosis are prescribed differently in forensic (secure) mental health hospitals compared to other psychiatric settings. It will examine the use of multiple medications and higher doses, using pseudonymised data from patients admitted to psychiatric hospitals across three different mental health trusts. The findings could inform future research and help develop guidelines for medication use in secure psychiatric services.

What is involved?
The research team will be passed pseduonymised data from three mental health trusts. This data will be analysed to see whether there are differences in medications being prescribed.

Who can take part?
Participant data will include:

  • Adults (18-80 years) admitted to secure and non-secure inpatient environments on a specific date.

How can people get involved?
Study involving participant data only.
