Homeside – Exploring carer delivered music and reading programmes for people with dementia

What is this study about?

This project aims to address the need for improved informal dementia care by training family caregivers to use music activities with the person they are caring for. The music programme aims to reduce behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia as well as improve quality of life and well-being for both people living with dementia and their caregivers.

Who can take part?

People with dementia and their carer.

What is involved?

Participants and their carers will be randomly assigned to either a music programme, a reading programme or a control group. The music and reading programmes are designed to be delivered by the carers who will be trained in their own homes using an online video telehealth platform.
