EMERGE Leeds: Complex Emotional Needs Service

A couple enjoying time in a park.Do you support a friend/relative with a ‘personality disorder’/ complex emotional needs?

The Leeds Personality Disorder Services offer two key groups for those who support a person with a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’/ those with complex emotional needs and interpersonal difficulties.

Andromeda is a peer support group for carers to share their experiences with other carers, access advice and support for their own wellbeing. Cygnus is a 6-week online psychoeducation course, which aims to provide carers with information that builds their understanding around what ‘personality disorder’ is, and how to support someone with complex emotional difficulties whilst also supporting themselves.

What do we mean by the term ‘carer’?

‘Carers’ are relatives, friends or other individuals who support a person with complex emotional needs and interpersonal difficulties, who may have been given a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’. When accessing our groups, there are no requirements to be in receipt of financial support or other forms of support to be considered a ‘carer’.

Within the Leeds Personality Disorder Service, we understand the importance of providing space for carers to learn more about the difficulties their loved one experiences, as well as connecting with other carers to share experiences and improve your own wellbeing. Please find detailed information such as dates, times and venues for the two groups on offer below.

If you have any questions or would like to join one of the groups, please email
