Introduction to The West Yorkshire Adult Eating Disorder Service

The West Yorkshire Adult Eating Disorders Service is a tiered service, made up of four tiers, each tier being a service, collaboration, or pathway (as shown in the diagram below). Each tier has been created to support individuals with eating disorders in different ways to provide better quality care to each individual.

Tier one — Primary Care Network (PCN)

The Primary Care Network is a collective of support including GPS, charities and third sector organisations, who support people in the community with an eating disorder or disordered eating habits. The PCN is not a direct part of our eating disorder services, but may work collaboratively with us. We include them in our diagram to demonstrate the working relation between our services and theirs.

Tier two — Link-ED

Link-ED is a community based service who support people with disordered eating, alongside their primary mental health diagnosis.

Link-ED is the newest addition to the The West Yorkshire Adult Eating Disorder Service, beginning it’s journey in 2020.

Tier three — CONNECT Community Team

The CONNECT Community Team support people with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder in the community.

Tier four — CONNECT Inpatient Service

CONNECT Inpatient Service support people with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder on the ward.

Open Access Pathway

The Open Access Pathway is a collection of support run by CONNECT and Link-ED, to be available to anyone with a connection with eating disorders e.g. our service users, carers/family, professionals etc. It is open to people beyond our service catchment (West Yorkshire).

We recognise that input we have in service is limited as resources aren’t able to offer everyone support, so to combat this we began the Open Access Pathway to extend our support to people beyond our service.

Whilst the Open Access Pathway still represents us as a service, it is not a crisis service and does not process referrals. for information on referrals visit the page for the relevant service or for information on helplines visit the resources page.
