The majority of specialist health interventions are delivered in the community, by three multi-disciplinary Community Learning Disability Teams (CLDT). The teams are made up of professionally qualified staff including; psychiatrists, psychologists, physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and learning disability nurses.
Assessment, treatment and care are provided within the framework of Care Programme Approach and the teams also provide specialist support and advice to a range of partner agencies.
Each CLDT also provides a service specifically for service users who have severe and complex challenging behaviours requiring highly skilled multi-disciplinary assessment and therapeutic interventions and each CLDT has behaviour specialist nurses in addition to clinical psychology.
We also have a specialist, city-wide Community Learning Disability Service which specialises in working with service users with complex multiple impairments.
