New Director of Nursing and Professions

A nurse, health visitor and senior manager with more than 25 years’ experience has been appointed as Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s new Director of Nursing and Professions.

Cathy Woffendin – currently Deputy Director of Nursing, Children’s and Specialist Services at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT) will join the Trust in March.

Cathy is a qualified nurse who began her nursing career at Dewsbury District Hospital and worked in a variety of organisations both within the NHS and private sector for ten years. She then undertook further training and obtained a degree in Public Health Nursing and worked as a health visitor developing a child health and safeguarding specialism.

She moved in to management in 2005 and has worked in a variety of management roles across community and mental health services. Cathy has also been a staff governor and was appointed in 2015 when BDCFT became a Foundation Trust.

“I’m really thrilled to be joining Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust,” said Cathy.

“I’m extremely passionate about improving care for patients and their families and I know that I’m joining a Trust which has great staff and is ambitious about delivering patient-centred care.”

Trust Chief Executive, Sara Munro, commented: “I think Cathy will be a great asset and will bring a new perspective to the Board. As well as caring about our service users, I know she will always bring the voice of our nursing and care staff into our planning and strategy development.”
