Mary Seacole Programme Graduates recognised at 2026 celebration

Colleagues from across Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT), Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCT) and South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching NHS Foundation Trust (SWYPTFT) came together on 24 February 2026, to celebrate the achievements of the 2025 Mary Seacole Leadership Programme graduates.

Around 30 participants joined the celebration at St Mary’s House, reflecting on their six‑month leadership journey and the impact the programme has had on their confidence, skills and personal growth. The event included shared experiences, table discussions and an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from across the region.

One graduate shared:

“I enjoyed the opportunities for self and team reflection and taking a look at the history of Mary Seacole learning about her courage and bravery in the most difficult circumstances!”

Another added, “The 360 experience was brilliant. I certainly learnt a lot about myself as a leader through doing this, and it was good to also consider how others see me.”

Participants widely acknowledged how the programme strengthened their leadership foundations, with one noting simply, “I developed as a leader by attending this course!”

Delivered locally by a collaboration of the three Trusts, the Mary Seacole programme blends workshops, online learning and reflective practice. Participants often describe it as intensive but transformative, with many highlighting how it has helped them build stronger networks and apply practical leadership tools in their day‑to‑day roles.

Chief Executive Sara Munro joined the celebration to congratulate the graduates and share reflections on her own leadership journey. She spoke about the value of compassionate, skilled leadership within the NHS and recognised the commitment shown by everyone who completed the programme.

The morning drew to a close with cupcakes, coffee and conversation, there was a clear sense of pride and energy in the room. With Leeds Community Healthcare (LCH) joining the collaboration from this year, even more colleagues across the region will now have the opportunity to benefit from this inspiring development programme.

Below are some photos shared from the event.
