SUNRAYS is an initiative designed to bring together people with lived experience to help improve local mental health and learning disability services, focusing on specific local areas.

It is an offshoot of our Trust’s Service User Network (SUN) group which has a focus across Leeds and York, and provides an opportunity for service users to meet in smaller, localised groups to consider support available in their immediate local area.

SUNRAYS groups provide a forum for people to use their personal experiences to help improve our services, and also encourage people to maintain their wellbeing whilst living in the community.

SUNRAYS is open to anyone who has lived experience of accessing mental health services within the community, whether as a service user or a carer. It offers the opportunity for group members to work in partnership with our Trust and put their personal experience to practical use.

SUNRAYS groups meet bi-monthly and each meeting is attended by a guest speaker who provides information or updates on topics suggested by group members. Meetings also provide the opportunity for group members to get advice and support on the issues that matter to them whilst having the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

SUNRAYS launched in February 2017 with the West Leeds groups. More groups are due to launch throughout 2017.
