Parkside Lodge development

Parkside Lodge was formerly used as a long-established mental health facility which supported people with learning disabilities and, more recently, mothers and their babies.

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust developed plans to create a 16-bed single sex inpatient mental health complex care facility through the construction of two extensions to the existing Parkside Lodge buildings as well as refurbishment of the existing building. The proposed facility would support men with mental health issues on their rehabilitation and recovery, so they would be able to live independently within the community again.

In November 2022, we held two public engagement events to provide the local community and stakeholders with an opportunity to comment on the proposal in advance of a formal planning submission. Neighbouring businesses, the primary school and residents were asked for their thoughts around the design, and they were overwhelmingly positive about the design and facility.

Unfortunately, the capital funding that we anticipated would support the work is no longer available to us.

As a result, we have suspended all work toward progressing with the inpatient complex care facility and exploring other clinical options for our client groups.

We would like to thank you for your comments which will inform any future building design.

We have worked with Leeds City Council, service users, and a wide range of consultant experts to develop the proposed scheme, using the latest Best Practice for Mental Health inpatient environments. You can find more visuals from our architects in the drop down box at the bottom of the page.

Public Engagement

We held two public engagement events at Parkside Lodge on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 November. Thank you to all those who came along to speak to us and share your views.
