Sayma Mirza BA, MSc, RCN
Constituency:Associate Director for Children, Young People (CYP) and Families, West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership
appointed to the: Council of Governors
I have a lengthy clinical background including over 22 years’ experience working for the NHS. I have a track record of working with the health and care sector to lead large scale system transformation programmes, building system leadership capability and influencing the inclusion agenda.
I originally started my career in the NHS as a paediatric nurse, initially progressing into senior roles in clinical and operational fields. I then moved into broader system roles across the local and regional health and care system in West Yorkshire. This was to lead on system leadership and development including transformation work to improve health and care services.
I currently work for the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership as the Associate Director for Children, Young People (CYP) and Families. I lead system priorities which relate to CYP to support the ambition to close the inequality gap in health and wellbeing for all CYP across West Yorkshire – no matter where they were born, where they live or go to school. I also work with national bodies to champion transformational change on equality, diversity and inclusion.
I am known to continuously advocate for better patient outcomes, amplifying the patient, public and employee voice and champion equity of experience and opportunity. I enjoy inspiring and influencing teams to achieve outstanding results by working together and continually support individuals through coaching and mentoring.
My aim during my time as a governor with Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is to continue to support the Trust to build on its existing collaborative culture to deliver the best outcomes and experiences for its patients, workforce and local community.
