David O’Brien

Constituency: Public: York and North Yorkshire
elected to the Council of Governors

My name is David and I work for Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

I have two decades of senior level experience in planning, delivering and governing public services at local, regional and national levels. I have helped numerous organisations to understand their aims, devise and deliver their plans, and accomplish their goals. I have supported many services to improve, thrive and achieve strong outcomes.

I have engaged extensively with service users and staff regarding their priorities and aspirations, ensuring their voices are heard from the boardroom to the consulting room. I have worked in and around the footprint of the Trust for many years, for example; planning and managing countywide care and well-being services across North Yorkshire. So I understand the geography and democracy of our local communities and the operational challenges they present.

I have notable career experience in NHS roles. I worked with NHS Digital for five years, ensuring that practitioners and patients benefited from advances in data and technology. With Yorkshire Ambulance service, I ensure that 999, 111 and patient transport services are governed well, managed effectively and deliver high standard of care.
